Informant - Agenda, Tasks, Notes Planner App Reviews

Store is missing

You snuck "the store" out of your product in 4.92, where we could purchase 3rd party calendars, the calendars I had previously purchased were missing. The only way I discovered this was when I upgraded to a new iPhone 7 plus and did a new installation. Thanks for the heads up!! Had to learn of this heartache searching your updated FAQs online. As I type this I am getting more and more upset, so Im lowering this review to a one star as I type!!! You might want to change, in your description, your top in-app purchases.... some of them arent in your in-app store anymore.

Dont upgrade.

I have used this app for years. I loved it. I bought a new iPhone and updated the app around the same time. Now my tasks dont show up. Upon further research they are requiring a $5 charge to unlock tasks. Thats garbage. Really regret updating the app to basically pay $5 for a feature I already had. I understand if they want to charge new customers, but existing app users should have been grandfathered in. Really obnoxious.

Great App for Professional

Ive used this app for years. Very flexible templates are great for easy text entry. Im a lawyer and use it daily. No complaints. Worth the money.

Dissappointed

I was so excited, after switching back to iPhone after many years, to find Informant again. Was great back then... and still is, but now its become a price gouger. Still love it,& I dont mind at all paying a one-time fee for a great app. However, I refuse to pay these ridiculous recurring fees. Too bad you guys got greedy. Lots of good calendars out there, so DELETE!

Customizable - great task integration

If you use tasks (or apple reminders) like a list of items to-do on a given date (but without a time) then this is the app for you! It allows you to view them on your calendar and manage them easily - for example, uncompleted tasks carry over to the next day, can be quickly assigned to a different due date, and incorporated into projects. App is also highly customizable - if you wish you can view weather, all day events, estimated time of arrival etc - so that you can make the app suit your workflow, rather than your having to change what you do to match the app. I have been using this product for 10 years now - first on WinDoze mobile, then Crackberry, and now on my iPhone/iPad - and it is my most used, most important app. But sadly the today widget is much less useful than previous versions, which showed start and end times aligned on the left so you could quickly scan your upcoming appointments (now that they are right justified you have to take an extra second or two to find the info).

Dont waste your time or money. Has flaws.

The one option I purchased this app for does not work. I want to be able to click a contact and make a calendar entry. It has that feature BUT it makes two entries on your calendar. One of the day you have planned and another for the day you are making the entry. I contacted them through their Contact Us link and turns out it works like texting. So I spent two day messaging them back and forth, answering the same questions over and over. I finally asked if I could call them to explain it easier and they refused. Would not give me a phone number even though they are in Texas. They offered no solution, no help, and finally stopped responding. DONT BUY THIS APP. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH ANY OF THEIR APPS. THEY OFFER NO HELP.

Growing Pains

Ive been a **long time** user of PI. When I upgraded to iPhone 7+, my purchase of the premium package didnt go with the upgrade. However, I contacted support (you can do it easily within the app itself) and they responded within 24 hrs and took care of it easily. I agree - lack of calendar purchase options *seemed* to be a problem. But, at least for me (Im a Spurs fan), the Spurs app has a calendar with 3 sync options - one of which was my online calendar - and then I was able to easily sync to my PI calendar. Piece of cake. And no additional cost. So PI is the same product to which Ive been loyal for years. This is the product to which I will remain loyal. Make sure you contact support - my bet is they can right any perceived wrongs and keep you on track with appointments, tasks, notes and syncing. (Im a doc and not affiliated with PI in any way.)

Now costs more money to see tasks and notes??!!!

Just got a new phone and pi loads on and now my tasks and notes that Ive been using since windows phone are gone. I remember paying for weather back in the day., now they want me to pay again. Now my info is hijacked until I pay for more packs at $5 a piece. I sure hope this is not true as a long time pi fan!!! Please give my tasks and notes back without fleecing my pockets!

Pay for tasks and notes again?????!!!!

Very long time PI user here, since windows phone or palm. Just got a new ios phone, now my tasks and notes are gone and I have to pay $5 for each again? I even paid for weather back in the day, now I have to pay $5 for that again? I hope this isnt true as it is a highjack of the same functionality as we had just a couple of days ago. Please help and give my data back without another $15!!!!

Widget

Can you make the widget to auto populate agenda view, it would be nice to see.

I, too, have loved this App for years! Ive paid more for this series of Apps and variations than any other App product BECAUSE it was everything Ive liked! I sync with my Google Calendar, and do nothing else! Until now. Now I have to REPURCHASE everything, itemized?! What the hell?! Dont make me hate you!

Since iPhone 7 upgrade ...

You must delete the app and download it again. For some reason the backup doesnt bring all the features back. Delete the app from your phone, come back to the App Store, redownload and you are all set.

Powerful

Very powerful replacement to standard calendar. Well worth having on your phone or iPad.

Waning Usefulness

Update 10/1916 Now have to pay additional fee if you buy a new phone to get features like Notes that you had before. Previous online forum eliminated and replaced with FAQ, so less support. Still not reliable, esp if you use gSyncit. Every time gSyncit updates, you have to manually reconfigure all your sync parameters. Have pretty much moved on to Todoist and Fantastical. Update 6/10/15: reduced my rating to one star. Syncing with Outlook has become unworkable using the local sync solution. Attempted to upgrade to Informant Sync. The app will not link up with the account I created and support is unable to figure out why. As other reviewers have noted, the app is unreliable. In addition, it is a battery hog and therefore cannot be left running in the background. Previous review: I have had Pocket Informant for several years and it is becoming more onerous to use over time. The real problem with this app is the syncing. In order to sync with Outlook, you have to not only purchase an annual subscription to Pocket Informant Online but you also have to buy gSyncit - and it still will not sync Contacts! Bottom line is that I cannot trust it to seamlessly manage my calendar anymore, which is sad because it has some nice features.

Zero stars

Export audio note stopped working with last Informant update and they will not fix the problem.

Absolutely the Best!

I dont write many reviews but this is the absolute best calendar app hands down! PI has the most crisp and professional looking interface there is. I love the fact that it combines a calendar and a to do list. My favorite feature is the ability to tag all of my entries and tasks, and use a different color for each tag. Instead of using a different calendar for different things such as home, work, family, etc. I just use color coded tags. It works great. PI is packed with features, some of which I havent even used. I use this app on my iPhone and iPad. I also use the PI sync device and entries sync flawlessly between devices. I also use the Mac desktop app and it is pretty good too. This is without a doubt THE best calendar app there is. It is constantly being updated and improved. Ive been using this since I first got an iPhone in 2009 and it is the only calendar app I will ever use!

Locked old features behind paywall

As a customer who had purchased this app twice now, I was disappointed to learn that icons and colored events were removed and put behind a subscription. Very seedy. I was a huge fan but I am looking elsewhere now.

Long-time Users Not Respected

I am a long-time PI user only to find, after upgrading to a 7+, that several features previously found in the program are now part of a feature pack. So, I am expected to pay for features I have already paid for. Sorry, I will be looking for another app that respects its customers.

A solid & flexible app with functionality to suit varied style preferences.

Updated review October 2016... I have used PI since the days of Palm Pilot and Blackberry. I have also strayed away from PI over the years to use primarily Omni Focus but am now "back". While there is no doubt that OF is a very good and much buzzed about application, Pocket Informant - or now simply Informant - has been quietly improving while maintaining a level of user flexibility that in my opinion can not be found in other PIM applications to either the degree or quality level experienced with PI. The learning curve for PI takes a bit longer than some other apps but the time invested is worth the payoff. The iPad and the iPhone versions provide a seamless and consistent user experience. The Mac version continues to lag as incremental improvements to get to a true v1.0 are taking a very long time to become available. Once the Mac milestone is achieved I expect the quality and thought behind it will live up to expectation. Unlike some other recent reviews I have not found pricing to be an issue. There is a monetary value to me as a user and there has to be monetary reward to a developer. I dont work for free and I dont expect someone else to.

This is the calendar app to buy!

Ive been a user of Pocket Informant from its very early days as a Windows CE app. Is that what we called them back then? I cant remember. Its matured into a full productivity app thats almost fully customizable to your specific needs. Im still a happy customer. Several reviewers mention an a la Carter upgrade policy. I have no idea what theyre talking about because I, too, just upgraded to a new iPhone and simply downloaded the app from the App Store.
