Waning Usefulness
Update 10/1916
Now have to pay additional fee if you buy a new phone to get features like Notes that you had before. Previous online forum eliminated and replaced with FAQ, so less support. Still not reliable, esp if you use gSyncit. Every time gSyncit updates, you have to manually reconfigure all your sync parameters. Have pretty much moved on to Todoist and Fantastical.
Update 6/10/15: reduced my rating to one star. Syncing with Outlook has become unworkable using the local sync solution. Attempted to upgrade to Informant Sync. The app will not link up with the account I created and support is unable to figure out why. As other reviewers have noted, the app is unreliable. In addition, it is a battery hog and therefore cannot be left running in the background.
Previous review:
I have had Pocket Informant for several years and it is becoming more onerous to use over time. The real problem with this app is the syncing. In order to sync with Outlook, you have to not only purchase an annual subscription to Pocket Informant Online but you also have to buy gSyncit - and it still will not sync Contacts! Bottom line is that I cannot trust it to seamlessly manage my calendar anymore, which is sad because it has some nice features.
